Nigel Langworthy qualified from Glasgow vet school in 1986. Nigel worked at home and abroad with many different species of animals until joining Tower Vets in 1998.
Nigel does all the farm work and helps out with the small animal caseload. He is mainly based at the Haxby branch.
John Fagan B Vet Med MRCVS
John Fagan was born and raised in Leeds. He qualified from the Royal Veterinary college in 1980 with a Distinction in Surgery. He worked in Mixed Practice in Ulverston in the Lake District for the first two years since graduating. He then moved to York where he has been ever since. He has attended numerous BSAVA congresses. In the early 90's he attended a specialist surgery course over a period of two years. He has membership of the BVA, BSAVA, and then the British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association.
Nic Howard BVM&S MRCVS
Nic qualified 1981 started in mixed Practice - came to York in 1986 and has been a Partner/ Director in TVG since 1992. Nic gave up farm work 2012 and now does only small animal work with a interest in chronic medicine and holistic care which includes homeopathy. In his years as a Director has had a big interest in seeing the Practice develop, become a Royal college accredited Practice and ensure Tower remains delivering first class care with a skilled and dedicated team
In his leisure time Nic enjoys bee keeping, ornithology and hill walking with his Collie dog.
Alicia Dixon is a vet who has been with us since November 2017. Alicia enjoys all aspects of GP work but has a particular interest in complicated medical cases and dentistry so you will normally find her at our Fulford Road surgery. She has worked in the veterinary industry since before university and knows the reception and nursing roles well and takes pride in incorporating this into her role as a veterinary surgeon by using communication and animal handling skills gained during this time, before qualifying as a vet in 2013. She has a lovely fox red Labrador called Amber who accompanies her to work most days and you may meet her behind the reception desk at our Fulford Road surgery. In her spare time Alicia enjoys swimming, spinning, yoga and spending time with her husband, dog, family and friends.
Ivan Stankov MRCVS
Ivan joined the practice in December 2016.
David graduated from Bristol University in 2017 and has been working at Tower since September. He is particularly interested in surgery. Outside of work, he enjoys running and cycling.
Lara Glitz BVSc MRCVS
Lara studied in Germany and South Africa and graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2013. After working in a mixed animal practice in South Africa, she joined the lovely Tower Veterinary Team in 2017. Lara has a special interest in eyes and is currently studying for my post-graduate certificate in small animal ophthalmology. She is committee member of the BSAVA North East region and belongs to the British Association of Small Animal Ophthalmologists and the European Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology.
Recently, Lara obtained a qualification as Official Veterinarian (OV), meaning she can assist with pet passports. In her free time Lara enjoys martial arts and travelling.
Willie Anderson BVMS MRCVS
Willie retired from the practice in 2001 but has stayed on to do part-time work at the Haxby branch. Willie has been with the practice now for over 40 years.
Nina worked in small animal practices since qualifying in 2016 before joining Tower Vets in April 2018. She has a strong interest in all aspects of surgery and emergency and critical care. Nina enjoys cycling and walking in the North Yorkshire Moors.
Liz Harland BVMS MRCVS
Liz works at the Fulford Branch on a Thursday morning. She does locum and part time work for various practices in the area.
Linda McNulty RVN BVNA
Linda has been quualified for 20yrs and has been working for Tower Vets for 3 years. Her favourite part of nursing is doing Anaesthetics/dentals and nursing clinics, especially looking after senior patients. One of the most important parts of her role is End of Life Care and Linda strives to give every owner and patient the very best experience at such an important time. Linda shares her life with partner Mark, and they are working on their garden which is turning out to be a rather large project. Linda likes going to watch bands, walks in the hills/woods and is interested in herbalism, reiki and crystal therapy.
Jenny Cheeseman RVN
Jenny started working at Tower vets in June 2006. Her interests are surgical nursing including dental. In her spare time she is a football mum!
Lisa Barnard RVN
Lisa started working at Tower in April 2018 as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN). Her special interests in work are diagnostic imaging, small furries and orthopaedics. Out of work Lisa enjoys, zumba, walking, reading, rabbits and going on cruises.
Megan Dunn RVN
Megan enjoys everything she does at work, but her favourites are Inpatient care, geriatric patients, patient anaesthesia. Out of work Megan enjoy spending time with friends and family, going on holiday abroad, football, partying and going to the races.
Becky Glenwright RVN Haxby
Becky Glenwright started Nursing in September 2000. She is a vet nurse and has done clinical coaching in the past. Her interests out of work include walking(rambling) with Ernie, camping, reading, going to the pictures and generally spending time with friends and family.
Beth Mae Chambers
Student Veterinary Nurse
Beth started working at Tower on 6th March 2017. Her interests in work include: Lab work (cytology, microscopy, blood/urine analysis), Theatre nurse (non-routine ops, circulating nurse), and she has a particular interest in cats. Interests outside of work include: Going to live music, cats and a good cuppa tea.
Student Veterinary Nurse
Sophie started working at Tower vets June 2016 and had special interests in emergency and critical care, patient anaesthesia, and inpatient care. Out of work, Sophie enjoys spending time with friends and family, and her horse.
Trainee Veterinary Nurse
Rebecca started at Tower as part of the reception team in summer 2016. She enjoys working with the supportive, hard working team, especially within a busy, fast pace environment. Rebecca likes talking to pet owners who are passionate about their pets/furry family members and later this year, is going to be joining the nursing team as a student nurse. Rebecca is excited for this new challenge and expanding her knowledge about veterinary care. She loves all animals, but cats will always have a special place in her heart.
Sarah Boultwood joined Tower vets in November 2005. She is interested in rabbit nutrition. Outside of work, Sarah likes dog-walking, gardening and planning trips to The Lake District. She also enjoy watching films, her favourite is Shirley Valentine!
Jamie started working at Tower Vets in March 2015 as a Nursing Assistant. Jamie's special interests are lasering and inpatient care. She is interested in doing a canine massage course. Outside of work Jamie spends time with family and friends, looking and caring for her own animal’s, bikejoring and caricross with her Husky and Alaskan malamute.
Jane Ireland Fulford Road Branch
Jane started work at Tower Vets in October 2011 as the reception Manager. Previously, she worked in retail for many years. With her love of animals, it made sense to take on the position of Reception Manager.
Jane's role at work is predominantly to look after the welfare of the clients and their pets, and the control of the stock within the practices.
Jane recently Married, and with her Husband enjoys going out on walks with our 3 dogs.
Nurse / Receptionist
Amanda started working at Tower in 1996 as a Veterinary Nurse Assistant/Receptionist. Her interests include complementary therapy, dog grooming and pet bereavement. Amanda also enjoys dog walking, cat sitting for friends and neighbours. Fundraising for Crohn's and Colitis when she can and catching up with friends for coffee and lots of cake!
Gill Symington Southbank Branch
Gill started work as a receptionist at Southbank in Sept 1994, when Abbeyfields Vets opened this branch, then with Tower Vets since 2009. Gill has seen a lot of changes and developments in veterinary care. She feels that she has got to know many lovely clients in her time. Outside of work Gill enjoys being out in the countryside, caravanning, and is actively involved with a local church.
Beverley started working for Tower vets in September 1995. Beverly loves her job as you are learning all the time. Her interests are her dogs, family, decorate cakes, sewing, and loves painting and decorating.
Christine Walker Acomb Branch
Christine started working at Tower vets in May 2001. She is a receptionist at the Acomb branch and enjoys welcoming clients and their pets to the practice. When she's not working, Christine enjoys gardening, cinema, theatre, eating out and going on holiday abroad.
Melanie started working for Tower Vets when it was called Abbeyfields in Sept 2007. Her interests include camping, walking, eating and drinking out with family and friends.
Anne Abbiss Dunnington Branch
A couple of years after joining Tower as a receptionist Anne took on the role as Claims Handler for Direct Insurance cases. Anne is hoping to progress her knowledge and understanding of grief /supporting owners with regards animal bereavement and achieve accreditation in this field.
Her main interests outside work are mostly around charity work, she is currently the secretary for the Dunnington Cancer support group and is also heavily involved in Auction work for them. Anne has also volunteered for various other organisations including St. Leonard's hospice and Cruse bereavement.
Jackie Stroughair Heworth Branch
Jackie started her job role as a receptionist in June 1975. She loves travelling, especially to Greece, socialising with her friends (face to face, not on social media!), Guinness and red wine, crosswords and logic puzzles.
Ruth joined Tower Veterinary Practice in March 2017, she is passionate about client care and has over a decade of experience working as a receptionist as well as assisting at an animal Hydrotherapy pool. From a very early age Ruth has had a real love for animals and has her own pets Doug the dog who is often with her behind reception and Rambo the cat.
In her spare time she enjoys watching bands, walking her dog as well as volunteering for the RSPCA and spending time with friends and family.
Sally has worked for Tower for 2.5 years and is based at both Dunnington and Fulford. She enjoys dog training, walking and gardening.
Tracy McIntyre Fulford Evening Receptionist
Tracy joined Tower Vets in April 2018 and works part-time based at the Fulford Practice. She is passionate about animals and animal welfare. She has owned Chinese Shar Pei, which are her favourite dog breed, for over 20 years. Tracy currently has a rescued Shar Pei who is about 9 and who they've had for just over 5 years. They also have a Bullmastiff who will be 7 in August who they've had from a puppy. Tracy's main interests are attending dog shows to support her friends (she used to show her Shar Pei at Open and Championship level including qualifying and competing at Crufts 3 years running), dog walking, swimming, volunteering as a Homechecker for perspective adopters on behalf of a number of animal rescue charities, watching motorsport (especially motorbikes), watching rugby, reading and knitting.
Lisa Winter RVN
Lisa started with the team in December 2017 as Practice manager, with over 20 years’ experience in veterinary practice, Lisa is a qualified veterinary nurse with qualifications in business management and experience in business consultancy with in the veterinary industry. She has two Children Harry (13) and Maisy (11) two dogs, Missy and Nell, a fat cat called Corky, two guinea pigs Dave and Ozzy, 3 chickens Henny, Lucy and Dorothy, not forgetting husband Wez.
